I have chosen 3 groups of colours (technically called stories) and then worked with different colours within them to give you two completely different looks, one vibrant and active the other laid back and chilled.
TROPICAL ISLAND
Our looks for this story are 1. vibrancy and lush, parties on the beach and bright cocktails or 2. going for a chilled out swim with the fishes.
Hot Tropical
This look has lots of sun and nature energy, A great place to start is with the foliage, green of ferns and palm trees will give this look some depth or ‘weight’ and keep it grounded and it will show off the vibrant colours. Add in your cocktail colours a tall glass made of fruits like papaya, pineapple and mango, keep them bright and clear. Colour blocks will work the best here and of course who doesn't love a touch of hot pink cocktail umbrella
Cool Tropical
After the party lets have a chill out day, snorkelling in the sea. We start this story with the colours of the tropical ocean, turquoise, blues and greens, made pain under a bright cloudless sky. In amongst this we add small faint pops of colour of our tropical fish seen at a distance the shimmer of yellows and limes and a touch of coral to finish it off.
BEACH LIFE
Shall we go sailing and play hard in the sun or should we sit on the shore and watch the world turn? Out two looks for this story are a busy true classic and a delicate nurturing chill out. Beach Life all action
For those of us who want to sail, Lets go classic with blue and white, the shade of blue will match the level of action paler blue and we are just paddle boarding, we want full on competition yachting so a bright bold sky blue and crisp cloud white. Our pattern has to go faster strips. Lets add the action with a bold clear red as lush as you can to get the heart pounding. Making the red more burgundy will calm the spice and add just a touch of sultry heat to the journey.
Beach life just chilling
Change the pallet and we change the vibe, take the blue of the sea with touches of green and add a wave full of sea foam to wash those colours out. This story gives us time to chill out and look at life. Add in the warm colours of shells, the palest pink, and peaches, add in the sand as a pale cream and with shades of washed out drift wood. This colour combination is really chilled out and relaxed made for watching the waves with the only action being a gentle paddle.
LAZY DAYS
Remembering your childhood summers of long hot days and holidays away with the family, Think penny arcades and amusements by the beach or sitting in the garden feel in a paddling pool eating ice cream.
Hot play days
This story enjoys the buzz of summer, flowery patterns of vibrant colours almost taken to their neon max. lively and exuberant calling you out to play, Yellow next to pink, next to blue and orange all the colours your younger self would have picked out. The strength of the sun shinning in the clear shades , when else could you get away with this combination if not now?
Cool play days
Now for our trip down memory lane, do you remember picking out your favourite ice cream flavour? you will find them all here, Strawberry pink, pistachio green and clotted cream vanilla. for a pattern we take inspiration from the sprinkles, ditsy pattens of mixed pastels their intensity always the same rather than blocks of colour tie in the look. If you are looking for more don’t forget to add the beiges of the picnic basket into the mix.
